Preparing for departure

We are excited about our trip around the Four Corners area coming up.  We have had a great but really busy week and weekend with graduation, parties, fussing with contractors about flooring, and having the pickup interior restored.  All that in addition to normal things like work!  It was so much fun having friends and family in for the graduation party to celebrate Emily and Ian’s academic success.  The Kentucky Derby party afterward was great fun as well.

We haven’t started to pack yet since the weather in the Four Corners area is forecast to be very warm at times and very cool at others so we are still discussing things we should bring.  We have a lot of travel guides and other materials ready to go as well as the camera and computers.  We also purchased a National Parks Pass that will get us into National Parks and other federal lands for one year.

We plan to pay for our checked bags and print boarding passes this evening.  Since we fly out of Charleston at six am, we will need to leave home a little after four am tomorrow.  We will leave Mary’s car at Yeager Airport until we return on the evening of May 19.  We are renting a Corolla type car from Hertz to drive while we are on the trip.  Hopefully the rough roads in the area will not take a toll on our ride.

We hope to update the blog with postings each day of our trip along with photos as we can upload them.
